Youth and Family Minister Position
 
Job Description
The minister’s focus will be on youth and family. He will:
  • Mentor youth and edify young families on their journey toward discipleship.
  • Be a leader as our membership reaches out in the community to those not yet connected to Jesus or a church family.
  • Assure that every child and family at Central is included in his ministry.
The youth and family minister will serve under the oversight of the shepherds and support the work of each ministry, which is to carry out God’s work of transforming our church and community into the image of Christ. He will work with the youth and family ministry team to create an annual plan for his ministry that aligns with the church’s overall strategic plan and mission to: Show God’s Love. Tell God’s Story. Be God’s Family.

Qualities

  • Stable, mature, servant leader in Christ who connects well with youth and parents
  • Married with ministerial training & experience; college degree preferred.
  • Desire to disciple youth and family
  • Ability to teach, mentor, lead, counsel, and connect with transparency and honesty
  • Evangelistic passion for reaching those not yet connected to Jesus or a church family
  • Servant’s heart, spiritual leadership of family
  • Biblical stewardship in personal finances and wellness
  • Love of God’s people, passion to tell God’s story, compassion for the lost and broken
 
Responsibilities/Duties
Show God’s Love:  Facilitate the creation of a culture that shows God’s love in action.  Matthew 22:38-39
  • Demonstrate God’s love and build genuine trust with everyone.
  • Do all things in love; start with the heart.
  • Foster a culture of discipleship that heals broken lives through Jesus.
Tell God’s Story:  Communicate God’s Word in a relevant, vibrant, and truthful way.  2 Timothy 4:2
  • Communicate God’s truth in a way that connects with youth.
  • Continually grow in knowledge and application of the Bible and of your ministry.
  • Cultivate a culture that makes life-long disciples who make disciples.
Be God’s Family:  Unify the Central church family in love and truth.  Acts 2:42-47
  • Know each youth/family and be available as a resource.
  • Build vertical and horizontal relationships in meaningful ways.
  • Nurture and environment of family love, trust, and belonging.
 
Administrative Role
The youth and family minister supports the office staff in:
  • Preparing for and connecting with youth and family.
  • Building good ‘chemistry’ with members, staff, and leadership.
  • Helping fulfill the strategic vision and mission at Central.
